Hippie Week

Tie dyed tops, swing mini dresses and long, wavy hair with flowers... While these items may seem stuck in the 60s, along with the Hippie movement itself, a resurgence of this ideal in fashion may not be as far in the future as you think. Fashion’s “IT” Girl, Sienna Miller, is starring in a new movie, Hippie Hippie Shake, documenting the life of famous hippie Richard Neville, and it’s already moving into the fashion world. Sonia Rykiel showed a distinct Hippie twist at her Autumn-Winter 2008 Show in Paris in February. There were no Tie Dyed tops, however, there was the long, loose hair, and woven prints obviously Tie Dyed inspired. Betsey Johnson also showed some of these ideals in her show in New York, with paisley prints and fringed bags.

So while Hippie Fashion is back, it’s back in moderation – don’t pull out the tie dye anytime soon.
