Colchester United's Football Grounds (Special Report)

It was on a recent trip to the Isle Of Mersea when I travelled through Colchester and was lucky enough to see both their new stadium and their old one.

Their old stadium, as suggested by the name, is situated on Layer Road, it is a fairly bazaar place to have a football stadium and looks very small from the outside with a tiny club shop. I got some very strange looks as I took photos of the stadium while wearing my Norwich City shirt and thanks to a large hole in one corner of the stadium I could take some good photos of the pitch, the stands and the demolition process.

I then went on to look at their new stadium called "Cuckoo Farm" this is situated not on a farm, but just off the A12. Because there was a large grassy bank and about 200m from me and the stadium, all I could do was get a few decent pictures. The stadium, because it was new looked very smart and fancy but there capacity is still less than Carrow Road. But as the new season kicks offI am sure their new home will live up to expectations and will be a great success.
